Digital day register for milk collection centres
The day register is the centre’s proof of what was collected today - usually split by morning and evening shift. When it is late or incomplete, the plant office cannot close the day.
What a day register must show
- Date and shift
- Supplier code / name
- Litres and quality (FAT, SNF, CLR as you use them)
- Amount from your rate chart
- Shift and day totals
Hand registers make end-of-shift matching slow. Torn slips go missing before posting.
Digital day register advantages
- Totals ready when the shift ends
- Same data feeds the supplier ledger and 10-day billing
- Managers can review after sync without waiting for a photo of a notebook
Weak internet centres
If the tower drops at peak hour, the desk still needs to collect. Offline Windows entry plus later sync keeps the day register complete without stopping the queue. Read: Offline milk collection vs registers and Excel.
Getting started
- Load suppliers and your FAT/SNF chart
- Collect morning and evening in software
- Close the shift with the day register view
- Let the office use the same account for reports and billing
