FAT SNF rate chart for milk collection - one matrix, fewer disputes

At the collection desk, the amount is rarely “litres x one flat rate.” Most Indian dairies pay on quality - usually FAT and SNF - looked up from a rate chart (rate matrix).

What a rate matrix is

A table (or set of tables) that maps quality bands to rupees per litre. You may have separate charts for:

• Cow milk
• Buffalo milk
• Different seasons or plant policies

Operators should not invent rates. They enter quality; the chart returns the amount.

Where disputes start

• One person uses an old printed chart
• Another rounds FAT differently
• Office recalculates in Excel with a third formula

Then the supplier hears three numbers for the same milk.

Good practice for centres

1. Keep one official matrix in the plant software
2. Push the same chart to every licensed desk
3. Show amount on save during collection
4. Use the same numbers in the day register and supplier bill
